Smoke Grenade Shoot blog

We all get busy time to time, I’m always on the lookout for new idea’s but often need a lot of time to research it and see the logic behind getting the shot right.

However, I came across these amazing looking coloured smoke grenades whilst scrolling through on Instagram, I instantly loved the colour and how powerful of an image they help create. I knew I could easily shoot the images with a similar type of shoot to what I normally do with my urban shoots.

I had a look on their website and looked for their closest dealer and it so happened that there was a stockist in Crawley, Result.

At the same time I had been talking to a model called Kerry who lived in Worthing. She was game with the idea and up for shooting something different. So I picked up a handful of them and we got together.

We started off with a shoot in the woods, I liked the idea of the nature element with the power of the smoke to separate the model from the background. I had with me some Blue, Red and White smoke grenades to try out and this is what we came up with.

Kerry was great at getting herself into multiple positions just to give the images a bit more life and flow with the smoke.

We then headed off to try find somewhere more urban, we searched around for quiet some time before finding somewhere right near where she lived. The location gave us a great powerful backdrop to work with and gave a completely different look to the nature shoot before hand.

100% looking forward to working with both the smoke grenades and Kerry again as there is so much more we could do with them.

Would love to know what you think of them?
